| On
the corner of the triangle, towards the top of The Street (yes,
this was once the only street, so no need in the past to
distinguish it from any other) there is a white wood paling fence
behind which stands the shop where all sorts of memorabilia can be
found. Riffle through dozens of albums and find old postcards,
many of Little Waltham and surrounding villages, cigarette cards,
books and ephemera; football programmes, sporting memorabilia and
trade cards.
At the turn of the century picture postcards were the main
means of communication and formed an attractive collection for
youngsters of the time.
Cigarette cards were the stiffening between two layers of
cigarettes in a packet and soon became a collectors item.
There are some fascinating and beautiful silk cigarette cards
and the WW1 embroidered silk postcards are attractive and very
collectable.
You can have your photographs, pictures or paintings framed on
the premises, and Collectors Corner are always looking to buy
items of interest. |
